Savannah Kelley

I have received some modelling data outputs from a project I’ve been working on for a few months. My task for this afternoon is to analyse and report on these outputs

7.15 AM

It’s time to wake up and get ready for work. I leave my flat just before 8AM and walk to the office. Thankfully, it’s a sunny day so it’s an enjoyable walk this morning.

8.30 AM

I drop my bag off at my desk when I arrive at work and log on to my PC. After having a quick glance at my emails and calendar, I head down to the kitchen and make some breakfast, which is usually a trusty bowl of oats. I have a chat with colleagues in the kitchen and then head back to my desk. While eating breakfast, I sift through my emails and calendar more thoroughly. It’s going to be a busy day!

9.00 AM

I reply to my emails and then head into my first meeting of the day with my team.

9.30 AM

As it is Monday morning, I have a weekly Transport Team meeting where we will catch up about our weekends and discuss workloads for the week. We sometimes grab a coffee at a local café, but everyone is busy with work today, so we’ve opted for one of the meeting rooms at Stantec to keep the meeting short.

10.00 AM

My second meeting of the day is a call with the project manager on a roading project that I have recently started working on. The project involves delivering a new four-lane 34 highway which will provide a more reliable State Highway 1 from Ōtaki to north of Levin. In the meeting, the client and I discuss my tasks for the week, along with the key contacts I will need to liaise with going forward.

10.30 AM

I head downstairs when my meeting has finished to make myself a cup of tea - it’s not quite Yorkshire Tea, but it’ll do the job.

11.00 AM

After my morning meetings, I get to work on what’s been discussed.

Office

12.30 PM

Lunch time. I usually bring my lunch to work, but today I have opted for St Pierre’s Sushi which is round the corner from the office. Since it is a sunny day, I have lunch in the park with some friends and then head back to the office just before 1PM.

1.00 PM

After lunch, I make myself a cup of tea and get back to work. I have received some modelling data outputs from a project I’ve been working on for a few months. My task for this afternoon is to analyse and report on these outputs. I have opted to use Microsoft Excel to analyse the data and produce summary tables and graphs for the report.

3.00 PM

I take a 15-minute break mid-afternoon and then make a start on writing a summary report on the modelling outputs I have finished analysing.

5.30 PM

I have been making good progress on the report and before I know it, it’s 5.30PM. I get changed into my running gear and then catch the bus to meet with the running club.

6.00 PM

After a chat with friends from the running club, we set off for around an hour of running on the trails and then head to the pub for refreshments afterwards.

8.00 PM

I catch the bus back to the flat and luckily, it’s not my turn to cook tonight so one of my flat mates has almost finished making dinner.

8.30 PM

After a quick stretch and a shower, dinner is served. We’re having tacos—my favourite! My flat mates and I have dinner around the table and catch up for around an hour.

9.30 PM

My flat mates and I clean up the kitchen and then find something on Netflix to watch in the living room.

10.30 PM

I head to my room around 10.30PM—aiming to be asleep by 11PM.
