What are you studying?
Bachelor of Science: Statistics and Mathematics (2022) - University of Canterbury. Studying towards a BSc Honours: Environmental Science and Statistics.
Where do you whakapapa from?
Samoa: Neiafu and Satuiatua villages on the big island of Savaii in #685.
What mahi did you work on?
During my time at Stats NZ, I was blessed enough to be placed in the best team which is the Wellbeing and Housing team. Some of the pieces of work I was assigned as a Statistical and Data Analyst intern included working on researching, comparing data, retrieving, and creating census tables for the purpose of having data to support the Pacific Housing Report project that was recently completed. Coupled with that, the technical side of things included some R-Studio coding related to creating tables and creating custom tables or basically using this table code for General Social Survey (GSS).
What advice would you give future interns?
Don’t be scared to go out of your comfort zone. Stats NZ is a place with great opportunities and has many spaces for one to grow, you’ll find your passion when you dive in.
