Be proactive. Take the initiative when trying to get your foot in the door with engineering companies by attending networking events and even personally dropping a CV and cover letter to their offices.

I started out as an intern during my university summer break. This gave me a great opportunity to see what Stantec was like. If they were the type of company I could see myself working for the long term and equally, to see how I would fit in with the Stantec team.
